Title: Everything
Fandom: Otalia
Rating: PG/PG-13
Spoilers: Episodes 6/9-6/12
Disclaimers: These fine ladies are the property of CBS, Telenext, and ultimately P&G. If they were mine, they would’ve kissed by now and we wouldn’t have the wonderful story we do!
Summary: Liv and Nat have THE talk.
A/N: I was supposed to have this done before recent episodes aired, but oh well, I got stuck on watching those darn spoiler clips and spec’ing all over the place that time got away from me.
She stepped out of the shop and gave an embarassed wave to Blake. She got in her car and rolled her eyes. Why Blake? Jesus, that woman can’t keep a secret to save her life! Olivia couldn’t be too hard on her though. Apparently, Blake had done some intensive research for those naughty books she liked to write so Olivia felt like she was getting some tried-and-true advice.
She ran a hand along the box sitting in the seat next to her, before tossing it behind her seat and out of sight. She loved Natalia, she really did. She had to if she endured Blake’s “advice.” Olivia knew one thing and one thing only. She didn’t want to ruin her relationship with Natalia. She managed to walk away from Josh, but if something didn’t give soon and she got some relief, she’d do something stupid.
So, she was ready to do this, to make this leap of faith. Natalia wasn’t ready so she’d have to find some way to deal with things in the meantime.
When Natalia finally called back, they agreed to meet at the park for a late lunch. Olivia asked about Rafe’s meeting with the parole officer, but she said they’d talk about it later. When she got to the park, Natalia was already there. She was sitting on a bench with her head in her hands.
“Hey, you okay?”
“Oh, hey! Yeah, I’m fine. Sit.” Olivia did as she was told, and she looked for a moment at the warm brown eyes looking out over the lake. When they spun back to her, the air caught in her lungs. There was something different in Natalia’s eyes, and it made a low pulse start deep in Olivia’s stomach.
“We need to talk about something.”
Olivia smiled unsteadily at her, “Okay.”
“I was at Farley’s earlier, having a beer, and guess who I ran into?”
Olivia shook her head, momentarily stuck on the image of Natalia in a bar drinking beer, “Who?”
“Josh,” Olivia swallowed the nervousness in her throat.
“Josh, really. How ‘bout that?”
Natalia rubbed her hands on her jeans and took a deep breath, before leveling Olivia with a stare, “Yeah, it was…interesting. He asked me what was up with you because you just didn’t seem like yourself when he kissed you.”
The silence hung between them. Olivia was terrified. Bloody hell! Admission and denial both carried negative consequences and both possibilities had Olivia picturing Natalia walking away from her. The tears started before she realized what was happening.
“Natalia…it’s really not what you think.”
Natalia quirked her cheek to one side, letting only one dimple show, “Really? And just what am I thinking?”
“That you think I cheated. That I must have wanted it or went looking for it, or worse that I’m going to leave you. That I’m not commited to you, to us.” The last part was forced out on a groan of frustration.
Natalia narrowed her eyes at Olivia, “That’s what you really think I’m thinking. That I automatically jump to these conclusions.”
Olivia shrugged, “Yeah, I guess. Didn’t you?”
Natalia turned back to the water and crossed her arms, “No. Once again, your presumptions about me are wrong. I know you, Olivia Spencer, probably better than most. I know that you radiate sexuality and you can make any human, and even a few inanimate objects, bow down at your feet. I know you’re a sexual person. I’m not naïve or blind. I see it, but most importantly…I feel it. Everytime you’re near me.”
She looked back at Olivia, unwinding her arms and putting one on the back of the bench, her fingers resting barely an inch from Olivia’s shoulder.
“Is that what you needed? A kiss?”
Olivia was finding it hard to breath with Natalia’s hand so close. She wanted to rest her cheek on it, feel the soft skin against her own, to kiss the soft palm and work her lips up along the wrist. She shook her head, “I needed something. Some sign.”
Natalia’s heart started to pound as her fingers reached up to brush along Olivia’s jaw and then across her bottom lip, “Perhaps something like this?”
Olivia swallowed around the lump in her throat and could only nod her response. Everything around her disappeared and all was left was this pinpoint of sensation and emotion pulsing through her led by Natalia’s touch. She needed this. God, how she needed this.
Natalia slid closer on the bench, her free hand coming to rest on Olivia’s thigh, “You don’t have to go looking anywhere else, Olivia. I want this with you. I want to share everything lovers share…with you. I want to give you what you desire because it’s what I desire too.”
“Really?”
Natalia quirked a half-smile at her, “Really, but…I do want to do this right.”
“So do I,” Olivia was breathless, her head spinning with the knowledge that Natalia wanted her too. The desire to lean over and kiss Natalia was almost painful.
Natalia leaned back a little, forcing herself away from Olivia’s magnetic pull, “Good. Then ask me out on a date.”
Olivia blinked, “Huh?”
“If you want a kiss or anything else, Olivia Spencer, you’ll ask me out properly.”
Olivia narrowed her eyes at Natalia, chuckling, realizing she had just been had, “Hmmm, okay, that’s how it is. Very well.” She took Natalia’s hand in her own, being sure to slowly caress the palm of her hand and the soft skin under her wrist. She smiled when she felt the shiver run through Natalia. Two could play this game.
“Natalia, would you go out on a date with me Friday night?”
Natalia smiled a full dimple smile at her, “I’d love to.”
They sat for a few more minutes, watching the ducks and talking, content just to hold hands before deciding to head back. Olivia dropped Natalia off at the farmhouse and walked her to the door.
Natalia leaned against the door, holding Olivia’s hand, “I’m really glad we talked. I feel like this huge weight’s been lifted.”
Olivia stepped in a little closer, putting her free hand on the door next to Natalia’s head, “Me too. So, Friday night?”
Natalia could only nod with Olivia being so close, her heart racing as Olivia leaned in, “I’ll pick you up at 7.” Olivia’s lips were there…right there…so close, and she felt her knees go weak when they brushed over her cheek and rested briefly just to the outside of her own lips, before pulling back. “See ya later.”
Olivia had been practically giddy on the drive back to the Beacon and when she got out and saw the box on the floor behind her seat, she smirked. Picking it up, she threw it in the first dumpster she could find.
“I won’t be needing that now!”
She had busied herself the rest of the afternoon with work, looking over event proposals and crunching numbers, until it had been time to get Emma from a friend’s house. They had a great dinner and Olivia had put her to bed about an hour ago when the phone rang.
“Hey, it’s not Friday yet,” she knew it was Natalia from the caller ID.
For a moment, she thought the call had been dropped when she didn’t get a response, “Natalia?”
Then she heard it, the low sobs finally carrying over the lines. A rush ran through Olivia and she fought to focus herself before getting too scared, “Baby, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”
“He…he…was there. He saw us.”
It took a moment for it to register who she was talking about, but when it did, the name came out more forcefully than she intended, “Rafe? He was there?”
“He’s…he’s so mad, Olivia,” she could hear the sobs break through as Natalia lost her battle with holding them back, “He stormed out of here, slamming the door.”
Olivia’s hands were shaking. If she saw Rafe right now, she’d probably strangle him, “Do you want me to come over? I can…”
“No…no. I’ve really screwed things up. I should’ve told him from the beginning. I should’ve listened to you.”
In a flash her anger at Rafe was gone, only to be replaced by a growing sense of dread. Please God, don’t let it end this way, “No…no, you did what you thought was right, and it was right. It wasn’t a good time to do it.”
Natalia’s voice came back, stronger this time, the sniffles gone. She sounded like she did in the gazebo right after confessing her love for Olivia.
“I did tell him though. I told him everything, about how long I’ve loved you and how in love with you I am and that I still want to make a life and home with you. I still want it all with you. In spite of it all, I still love you.”
Olivia slumped to the bed, the rush of her emotions surging from one extreme to the other leaving her drained. In the back of her mind, she sent a small prayer of thanks to God, “I love you too. So, what now?”
“We face it. We deal with this together. I want to work things out with him, but no matter what happens, nothing’s going to change between us. It may just delay things a little.”
Olivia felt her stomach drop again, “Oh, okay. I understand.”
“Delayed, Olivia. Not stopped. We’re still going out this weekend, and I’m still getting my first kiss.”
Olivia could hear the small smile hidden in Natalia’s voice, and she bit her lip at the rush of joy she felt, “Oh really? Ya think so?”
“I know so. I want to kiss you...so bad. I wanted to kiss you today, but I want that date first. I want to have a romantic dinner with candlelight, and I want to sit there and drive you crazy all night until you can’t stand it anymore. I bet your lips are so soft, and you taste so good,” Olivia swallowed convulsively.
“You’re driving me crazy now. I’ll be useless when you get done teasing me.”
“I’m not teasing, Olivia. This kiss, it means everything to me and it’s a promise from me to you of all the great things to come, and trust me, there’s so much more to come.” Natalia breathed a heavy sigh, “So, don’t worry. We’ll deal with Rafe and it won’t be easy, but I love you too much to let anything stop this now.”
Olivia chuckled, “This is wild. You call me up all upset over Rafe. I should have been comforting you, and you end up reassuring me. How did that happen?”
“I’m the nurturing one, remember? It’s what I do, and you love me for it.”
“Yes, I do.”
“Friday night then?”
“Friday night.”
